A current produces a magnetic field. But can a magnetic field produce a current?
In 1831, I passed a conductor through a magnetic field and voila! current was produced. The production of electric current or voltage in a conductor whenever there is a relative motion between the conductor and a magnetic field (or magnet) is called electromagnetic induction.
