A Corps member jailed in Oyo State for internet fraud

A corps member, Mr. Adetuberu Christopher Adetoyese, currently serving in Ogbomosho, Oyo state has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for internet-related fraud charges by a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin.

Mr. Adetuberu Christopher Adetoyese was arraigned before the court on Thursday, August 11, by the llorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following his arrest at the Ogele area of Eyenkorin, Ilorin.

During interrogation, he revealed that he ventured into ‘Yahoo Yahoo Business’ in 2016 and had among other things built a house with the proceeds of the illegal activities.

Adetoyese was found guilty of the two count charges levied against him by the EFCC and handed a two-year jail term by the presiding judge, Ibrahim Yusuf, with an option of a fine of N200,000.

He was further ordered to forfeit a 3-bedroom flat acquired with the proceeds of the illegal activities as well as a Lexus car, different brands of phones, and a laptop, which were instruments to the crime. Also, the sum of N921,535.49 in his bank account was to be forfeited to the Federal Government.
