The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife says it is still awaiting the report of the committee set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of a student of the Foreign Languages department, Aisha Adesina.
Recall that the institution indefinitely shut down academic activities following students protests.
The late final year student was said to have died at Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, Ile-Ife, where she was referred to by the university’s health centre.
The institution then set up a committee and gave it the mandate to investigate the protest and the cause of the death of the final year student within two weeks.
However, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor on Academics of the institution, Prof. Bola Babalola on Friday implored parents and guardians to exercise patience.
He disclosed this while speaking with journalists on Friday during the commissioning of a redesigned and refurbished postgraduate seminar room sponsored by OAU Accountant set 2001 alumni.
She said, “The University will wait for the committee investigating the remote and immediate causes of the protest. We implore parents and guardians to exercise patience as the committee undertaking the assignment.”
The President of the Alumni group, Tolulope Ogundipe said the project was born out of a quest to give back to their alma mater and to project the greatness of OAU.
