The Osun State House of Assembly has affirmed that the newly upgraded Osun State College of Education Ilesa to university status would serve as a research center of academics in the country.
Recall that Governor Gboyega Oyetola had set up an 11-man Implementation Committee as a follow-up to the upgrade of the College of Education, COE, Ilesa to a full-fledged university.
The committee, headed by Professor Olu Aina, was set up to develop an academic brief and physical master plan for the new university among other things.
Members of the Committee include former Health Minister, Prof. Isaac Adewole; former Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Prof. Labo Popoola; former Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin University, and Prof. Yemisi Obilade; and founder, Lead City University, Ibadan, Prof. Jide Owoeye.
However, on Tuesday, Speaker of the Parliament, Timothy Owoeye on the floor of the house directed the Clerk and Director of Legal Osun State House of Assembly to work on grey areas of the University of Ilesa Establishment Bill 2022.
He noted that the solution to the grey areas would throw more light into the bill under consideration.
This is as the house made amendments and corrections to the title, long title, enactment, citation, and Clauses 1 to 37 respectively, and all the amendments and corrections to form part of the bill under consideration.
